A small town in Southern Indiana has been noted to be on the list of cities and towns across the United States that ISIS has intentions of striking.
This release has left residents of Salem (Wasington County), Indiana asking, “Why would ISIS want to target small farm town in the U.S. that seemingly have no military affiliation? All we have here is a National Guard post.”
The truth is, according to ISIS and top Homeland Security personnel, is location. Washington County, particularly Salem and New Pekin, are part of a railroad route used to transport military equipment and personnel in the event of war on our homeland. This railway runs directly near the center of Salem and New Pekin and continues south to Kentucky and on. Strategic planning of the military in the case of an all out war would require this particular railway be in pristine operating condition.
A railroad official spoke on the condition of remaining anonymousm stating, “In the past six months we have been working diligently making repairs to this particular line. We have asked seceral times why we are putting so much qork into a li e that is not used anymore. We are always told, ‘Just do your job and be grateful you have one.’ So, that’s what we do.”
When speaking with Salem’s city mayor about the potential threat he declined to comment anything more than, “Everyone in the U.S. is a potential target to terrorist. We should all always be aware, but have confidence in our government and police forces to keep us safe.”
More to follow as information is uncovered.
